7:15 Guest Speaker Marcia Bernadette
Marcia Bernadette has been fusing since she took her first class in 2009, at the former Art Glass Fusing Center in Austin, TX. She earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Prairie View A & M University and is an avid kiln formed art glass collector, especially mid-century.
Marcia has created and shared by way of video and written tutorials cold working techniques that can save artists money and also, make it easier for artists with physical limitations in their hands to achieve quality work.
She has been exploring color density for over 5 years to answer the questions: “How can glass blowers achieve so much depth, with so little color?”
The result of her color density exploration culminated in the first ebook dedicated solely to stacking glass called, Fuse it Like it’s Hot. Marcia has also written an accompanying ebook called Drop it Like it’s Hot – Down the Aperture, which covers making drop vessels. She has taught both techniques at the Glass Craft and Bead Expo in Las Vegas, This Little Light Art Glass in Nashville, TN. and manages a Facebook group for artists that have taken the class or purchased the Fuse it Like it’s Hot ebook.
Don't miss Marcia's upcoming class
Fuse it Like it’s Hot – Take it Off
In this progressive 2 day workshop, participants will learn to use color density and depth of color to produce fused glass drop vessels, which are conceptually and visually similar to those produced by hot glass artists. Bullseye Glass will be used.
Color density, color depth, viscosity, surface tension, apertures, schedules and cold working are concepts that will be discussed. Participants can look forward to making their colored sheet glass, frit, stringer, rod and murrini last much longer.
Class will be offered at A&A, more details at the meeting.
